“Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.”
-Franklin D. Roosevelt
Every year AARP of Utah and CAP Utah host Democracy Day at the Utah State Capitol during the General Legislative Session. Utahns interested in learning more about the lawmaking process in Utah and how they can get their voice heard are invited to this free event! Past Democracy Days have featured prominent Utah lawmakers, advocacy training, mock debates, and informative tours of the Capitol campus where individuals can see the lawmaking process as it happens. Attendees have the chance to meet one-on-one with the State Senators and Representatives elected to represent them and their community members.
This year’s Democracy Day will be held February 12, 2015. Please visit our website again in December for more details!
